Cookie Policy
Last updated: 23 July 2026
This policy explains how BNO Audio uses cookies and similar technologies on bno.audio and account.bno.audio.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Cookies let a site remember things between page loads, such as what is in your cart or whether you are logged in. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in a comparable way and are covered by this policy too.
2. Our approach
We keep this simple. We do not sell your data to anyone.
What we do run:
- Strictly necessary cookies, which the store cannot work without.
- Analytics, from Shopify (our store platform) and from MIDA, which tell us how the store is used.
- Marketing, in the form of the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel, which we use to measure and target our advertising.
Everything except the strictly necessary cookies is only loaded if you consent.
3. Categories we use
Strictly necessary
These keep the store and the account portal working. They remember your shopping cart, maintain your session, keep the checkout secure, and record your cookie preferences so that we do not ask you again on every page.
These cookies do not require consent, because the site cannot function without them. They are set by Shopify (on the store) and by our own backend (on the account portal).
Analytics
Two tools sit in this category.
Shopify's built in analytics tell us things like how many people visited a product page, which pages they came from, and how many purchases were completed. We use this to understand which plugins people are interested in.
MIDA records how visitors move through the store: page views, clicks, scrolling, and session details such as device and country. This is played back to us as anonymous session replays and heatmaps, which we use to find where the store is confusing or broken. It is behavioural analytics, not advertising, and the data is not used to target ads.
Both are only loaded if you accept them in our cookie banner. If you decline, they are not loaded.
Marketing
We use the Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram) so that we can measure how our advertising performs and show relevant ads to people who have visited our store. It records actions such as viewing a product or completing a purchase, and reports them back to Meta.
Alongside the pixel in your browser, Shopify also sends some of the same events to Meta directly from its servers (Meta's Conversions API). This server side path follows the same consent choice you make in the banner: if you decline, these events are not sent.
Meta processes this data under its own policies. You can read them at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/.
These are only loaded if you accept them in our cookie banner.
Preferences
Shopify may set cookies that remember preferences such as your chosen language or region. These are only set if you accept them.
4. Embedded video
Some pages contain a YouTube video. We do not load YouTube until you actually want to watch: what you see first is an image hosted by us, and nothing is requested from YouTube or Google.
Only when you click play does the YouTube player load, and at that point YouTube sets its own cookies and receives your IP address under Google's policies. If you never click, no connection to YouTube is made. You can read Google's policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Managing your choices
When you first visit bno.audio you are shown a cookie banner. You can accept or decline non essential cookies there. Your choice is recorded and applied through Shopify's Customer Privacy API, which controls whether the analytics, marketing, and preference cookies are allowed to load.
You can change your choice at any time. Use the Cookie preferences link in the footer of any page on bno.audio. That reopens the banner, and whatever you choose there replaces your earlier choice immediately.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, the cart and the checkout will stop working.
6. Specific cookies
Shopify publishes and maintains a list of the cookies its platform sets on merchant stores, including their names, purpose, and lifetime. Because Shopify updates that list when it changes its platform, we do not reproduce it here, where it would go out of date. You can read the current list in Shopify's own cookie policy:
https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies
7. Third parties
The parties that may set cookies or receive data on our storefront are:
- Shopify, our store platform, which handles the store, the checkout, and its own analytics.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for advertising measurement and targeting, if you accept marketing cookies.
- MIDA, for session replays and heatmaps, if you accept analytics cookies.
- YouTube and Google, only if you click play on an embedded video.
- PayPal, if you choose PayPal at checkout. PayPal sets its own cookies under its own policy.
Our account portal at account.bno.audio uses only strictly necessary storage for your login session. It does not run analytics, marketing pixels, or session recording.
8. Changes
We may update this policy when we change the tools we use. The current version is always on this page.
